From the Mountains to the Nation's Capitol

Drupal Camp Asheville is this weekend and New Valley Media is excited to be sponsoring!  Every year, DCAVL continues to grow and build itself into one of the top regional Drupal camps in the southeast and New Valley is proud to be a part of it. DCAVL is hosted at the AB-Tech Conference Center, so if you are in the Charlotte, Atlanta, Greenville, or Knoxville metro areas, head over to Asheville for a great weekend of Drupal learning, social events, and community building.

A huge part of Drupal is giving back to the community, so in addition to our sponsoring the event, our team members also helped in the planning and organization of the camp. Two members of the NVM team will also be presenting sessions during the Saturday portion of the conference! Our community liaison, Adam Knox, will be presenting a session for business development professionals as well as newcomers to the Drupal community, focused on the spirit of the Drupal project and ethically conducting business in an open-source community. Lead developer Tommy Sliker is giving a technical talk on using a decoupled Drupal back-end with the latest front-end javascript languages to build desktop applications.  His talk is sure to highlight the power of Drupal as more than just a CMS!

At the end of this month, New Valley Media is excited to be traveling to our nation’s capital to take part in this year’s GovCon! This Drupal-focused event is the largest event in the U.S. Government Drupal community.

Our very own Anne Easterling will be presenting!  Her session, titled, “Musings of the Contrib Queen, or How I Used Contrib Modules to Build a Career,” showcases how Drupal professionals “stand on the shoulders of giants,” by using the community’s contributions to the Drupal project to push the envelope of what is possible.
